AnnoScene is designed to keep your data on your device.

What we collect

Nothing. AnnoScene has no user accounts, no servers, and no analytics. We do not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal information.

Data that stays on your device

To create your journey replays, AnnoScene works with the following data entirely on your iPhone. None of it is uploaded to us — AnnoScene has no servers, and your routes, media, and journeys are never sent to any developer-controlled or third-party service. Apple Maps is the one network service the app talks to (see Third parties below):

• Location. When you start or resume a trip recording, AnnoScene records your route using “When In Use” location access so it can draw and replay your path. Recording runs only while a trip is active — it continues while your screen is locked or you switch apps (shown by the iOS location indicator) so your route isn’t lost, and stops when you finish the trip. AnnoScene never uses “Always” location, never tracks you outside an active trip, and never uploads your recorded routes.
• Photos and videos. When you add photos or videos, AnnoScene reads the items you select. When you use “Find Trips from Photos,” AnnoScene scans the photos and videos in your library that you allow it to access — either your full library or the limited selection you choose in the iOS permission prompt — reading their capture time and GPS metadata to group them into trips. All of this happens on device. AnnoScene does not upload your photos and does not scan your library in the background or on an ongoing basis.
• Your journeys and captions. Recorded routes, imported media, edited headlines and captions, and your Atlas of visited countries are stored only in the app’s local storage on your device.

Deleting a recording or a journey removes its route and app-owned media from your device. Deleting the app removes all AnnoScene data.

Third parties

AnnoScene uses Apple Maps (MapKit) to display maps and resolve place names. This requires a network connection to Apple: the app loads map tiles, and it sends place search queries and relevant journey coordinates to Apple’s Maps service to name the places along your route (search and reverse geocoding). Apple processes those requests under its own privacy policy; AnnoScene never sees or stores them on any server, and your journeys, routes, and media are not uploaded anywhere. AnnoScene contains no third-party advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs.

Children

AnnoScene is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from anyone.

Changes

We will update this page if the app’s data practices change (for example, if a future version adds optional cloud sync, which would be clearly opt-in).
